Returning to Campus, Deepening into Mindfulness

Alison Cohen leads mindfulness sessions exploring balance, perspective, and self-compassion.
by Sarah Bakanosky

As we transition back to campus and back into the classroom, many agree that the start of the 2021–2022 school year has had a different tone than previous years. The ongoing pandemic is weighing heavily on all of us. People are tired—and the need for balance, perspective, and self-compassion is stronger than ever.

The Tang Institute is grateful to be able to (virtually) gather our community again for a series led by mindfulness educator Alison Cohen. Cohen is a longtime friend and collaborator who has frequently led Institute events over the years, including our Mindfulness for Educators series and Phillips Academy student leader programming.

Participants can connect with Cohen through her 6-part mindfulness series starting Thursday, October 14, Returning to Campus, Deepening into Mindfulness. Through guided meditation, different practices and tools, and group discussion, this series is an opportunity to expand your understanding of foundational aspects of mindfulness and learn ways to integrate mindfulness into your everyday life.

While this series is aimed at educators and other school-based professionals, the tools and practices we’ll apply and discuss have broad relevance and sessions are open to everyone. Participants are encouraged to participate in the full series or individual sessions as able. No prior experience with mindfulness or meditation is expected or required—all are welcome!

Returning to Campus, Deepening into Mindfulness will take place every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. ET through November 18. To register for the next session taking place on Thursday, November 4, please visit the Eventbrite link: mindfulnesswithalisoncohen1104.eventbrite.com.

We hope you join us!
