Supporting Student Learning

Our Mission

The Tang Institute exists to support student learning. We fund faculty fellowships—often in interdisciplinary teams—to learn about and engage with central questions in education today. We also connect our learning with other educational leaders, sharing and growing our best ideas with local and global communities.

What I want most is for our faculty here to be engaged in testing, exploring, and assessing—really carefully assessing—emerging ideas in education. Ultimately, what we’re trying to do is to serve our kids better.

Our Work

The opportunities we are creating for students are interdisciplinary in nature and help the Academy grow in relation to the priorities of the 2014 Strategic Plan: Equity & Inclusion; Creativity & Innovation; and Empathy & Balance.

Our Method

At the Tang Institute, community members come together to learn, connect, and grow.

  • Learn: We put out an annual call for fellowship proposals to faculty members, then work with senior leadership to select the most promising proposals for student learning.
  • Connect: We help our fellows share their work at Andover and connect with partners locally and globally to engage with central questions in education today.
  • Grow: We support our faculty fellows with time and resources to grow their project work and their own skills and knowledge.

Our Work: The opportunities we are creating for students are interdisciplinary in nature.
