Supporting Student Learning

Our Fellowship Program

The Tang Institute exists to support Phillips Academy’s most important priority: student learning. One of the best ways faculty can support student learning is by learning too: asking questions, trying out new methods, and asking for and giving feedback. As Tang fellows, Andover faculty members are given the support and time they need to develop their ideas and cultivate a culture of ongoing learning at the Academy. They are also encouraged to connect their learning with other educational leaders, sharing and growing their knowledge with local and global communities.

Application Process

We seek fellows who will work collaboratively to engage with challenges central to our own community and the broader educational landscape. Our annual Call for Fellows opens each fall and a deadline for proposals is announced. Andover faculty members are invited to submit proposals as interdisciplinary teams or as individuals with plans to collaborate in specific areas. Fellowship notifications are sent out during the current academic year, and new fellows set to work on a range of exciting projects at the start of the next academic year.

The application for the 2022-2023 Tang Institute fellowships is now open! Please visit bit.ly/Tangfellowships for additional information and to submit your proposals. Proposals are due by Friday, November 12, at 8:00 p.m. ET.

The projects I have worked on have been the best professional development of my career. Just having the time to explore different pedagogies and blended learning tools has reinvigorated how I teach students and my own Andover experience.
